Mike is a native Virginian
and moved with his family to Santa Barbara in
1971. He is a graduate of Santa Barbara HS,
Santa Barbara CC and UC Santa Barbara with a
Bachelor’s degree in Business Economics. While
working for two area CPA firms, Mike earned his
CPA certificate in 1979. He started his own
accounting practice in 1984 and it has evolved
into serving over 100 area homeowner
associations and individual tax clients. Please note that Mike is no longer accepting new tax clients.
Mike
bought a Goleta condominium in 1980 and served
as Treasurer of his self-managed association for
5 years during the 1980s. He helped found the
South Coast Homeowners Association (southcoasthoa.org),
an educational group of 140+ HOAs, in 1988 and
currently edits the newsletter. Mike has served
on the planning committee for the California CPA
Education Foundation’s Common Interest Realty
Association Conference since 1991 and has
been a speaker at that conference for many years
since including conference chair in 1995, 2000, and
2015.
Mike is
also a charter member of the Rotary Club of
Goleta Noontime, a Past-President (1995-96) and
current Treasurer. Other professional
memberships include the American Institute of
Certified Public Accountants, California Society
of CPAs, Executive Council of Homeowners (ECHO), and
Community Associations Institute (CAI).
Mike has
been an active stamp collector since 1968 and is
a member of the American Philatelic Society and
the American Helvetia Philatelic Society
(Switzerland). Of special note are several
commemorative cancels he developed that were
used in Santa Barbara/Goleta from the Santa
Barbara HS Centennial in 1975 to Goleta Valley
Days/Lemon Festival/Goleta Depot postmarks and
most recently, the Goleta Rotary Centennial
cancel in 2005.
Mike
resides in Goleta with his wife Brenda. We have two children. Rollin owns 805 Pool Tables in Goleta and Matt works for a video game division of Microsoft in Redmond, WA. |
